1. What inspired you to become a naturopath?
I was inspired to study naturopathy due to my own health challenges. From about 18yrs onwards I had a really poor immune system, was frequently on antibiotics and picked up a bad stomach bug when travelling throughout South East Asia. At the time I wasn’t enjoying my current degree and decided to see a Naturopath to support my health. It was honestly the best thing I’ve ever done, it opened my eyes to the realm of natural medicine and I’ve never looked back!
2. What is one change you recommend to clients/friends who are wanting to improve their health and wellbeing?
Stick to the basics, get enough good quality sleep, eat mostly whole foods, drink filtered water, get sun exposure daily and move your body in a way that feels good for you! Seems super simple but it’s often the basics that we forget to do.
3. What is always in your fridge and pantry?
My fridge is always stocked with fresh organic produce and good quality meat from local farmers and the local butcher. I often bake protein balls or banana bread for snacks throughout the week and there is always a few blocks of lindt dark chocolate in the fridge, my fave.
4. How do you start your day?
I’m lucky that I work for myself so most days can be different however it always starts with some kind of movement whether that’s yoga, pilates or a beach walk. I often will have a sauna and then a good breakfast and coffee!
5. What do you turn to, to make you feel your best?
I check in on my health – I’m fairly intuitive so if I’m not feeling great I know I need to make some changes around work, stress levels, exercise or diet! Getting a good nature fix by going on a beach walk and swim or heading out to the local waterholes always make me feel better.
6. What does beauty mean to you?
Beauty to me is not just physical, it’s the radiance that emanates when you are healthy, happy and aligned.
7. What is your skincare philosophy? & any thoughts on natural beauty products.
If you wouldn’t eat it – don’t put it on your skin. Haha, I’m a big big fan of natural beauty products. I don’t believe harsh chemicals and topical medications address the root cause of skin care complaints and I find that myself and my clients get the best results with gentle and natural skin care products.
